I also get an error message every time the computer starts that states "The computer must be restarted before updating can continue. " I have ran my virus scan but it comes up clean, any ideas?

Louise My norton is unable to connect to the server or internet for any updates, however I know I have an internet connection. Download Virus Definitions from this Web Link and then do a Full System Scan in Safe Mode ( make sure all boxes are checked in the Manual Scanning section of your Security Product, which can be found in the Security Product Options.

Once installed, physically disconnect from the internet (pull the plug) then try to run the program in Safe Mode.

It is generally recommended to update the program once installed, but with no internet connection that won't work.Or on the Home Page, bottom left in white on black is Subscription -- if you click on that it tells you when your subscription expires so you can work back from that.FWIW I would be inclined not to take any drastic action like reinstalling Live Update while Tony Weiss the Norton Staffer -- names in red -- is asking you for information or you may shortcircuit his game plan!Or do you have Norton Internet Security 2008 installed? Are you referring to the "Internet Worm Protection" component of Norton Anti Virus 2008, or an older Norton product Norton Personal Firewall? The reason I ask is because Internet Worm Protection is an Inbound Firewall only, it does not restrict traffic out of your computer. Or do you have Norton Internet Security 2008 installed? I'm sorry, I meant the only firewall my computer is running is through norton, I do not have norton internet security, it is just the antivirus software. My norton is unable to connect to the server or internet for any updates, however I know I have an internet connection.
